ODEI and RAS Welcome New URM Graduate Students to Penn Engineering

This fall semester, Penn Engineering’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the RAS Grad Office welcomed new Under-Represented Minority (URM) graduate students with special events. First, the students participated in a two day retreat to introduce them to Penn Engineering and the Penn Campus. At the retreat, topics such as Navigating University Resources, Imposter Syndrome, and others were discussed by Penn Engineering staff and Meredith Wooten Penn Graduate Students’ Center Director. The students interacted and spoke with current Penn Engineering graduate students as well as with Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, CJ Taylor, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, Boon Thau Loo, and ODEI Director, Dr. Laura Stubbs.

The retreat concluded with a tour of Penn Engineering, Penn campus, and the city of Philadelphia.
